Antique Carved Wood & Metal Plant Stand – $995

Antique carved wood and metal three-legged plant stand, also usable as a pedestal by adding something round to the top to make it flat. The wood is intricately carved with carved metal (bronze?) dragons or lizards and face masks around the top section. Inside is a green copper pot with holes in the bottom for drainage. When the metal bowl is removed one can see remnants of very old French paper with writing. A lower shelf helps with the structural integrity, with more carving around and on it as well, along with claw feet and curved legs that add to the overall look. It is an intriguing piece, with its combination of Chinese and French influences. Given the combination of wood and bronze-like metal, this could potentially be an example of an antique piece that blends styles from both cultures, which was fairly common in the 19th and early 20th centuries, especially with the rise of interest in exotic and cross-cultural designs. The history is a bit of a mystery, but the piece itself seems to tell a rich story through its design.

19.5" wide, 19" deep, 37" high.
