Striking dining set including an extendable oval table, two leaves and six dining chairs made by Century Furniture of Hickory, NC. This vintage Asian modern set was designed by Raymond Sobota for the Chin Hua collection. The table is made of an ebonized maple, with a gorgeous white ash burl inlay providing contrast. Beveled edges along top, gently curved legs, and curved corner and leaf apron details are the hallmarks of the fine craftsmanship that went into this Ming-inspired line. Of the six chairs, two are arm chairs and four are side chairs. The arms on the captains chairs are low enough to slide underneath the apron of the table. The chairs feature incised Chinoiserie engravings to the upper portion the splat. Their square seats have nicely padded square cushions upholstered in a vintage cream fabric that is a perfect match for the chairs. Straight legs are supported with an open box stretcher. No makers marks or labels present. Moderate wear to both table and chairs. The table and leaves have several scuffs, scratches and dings. The chair frames are very sturdy but also have scuffs and scratches. The fabric has some marks and scratches.
Table measures 67.5" wide by 46.75" deep by 30.5" high. With the addition of the 18" leaves it expands to 85.25" and 103.25". The two captain's arm chairs are 23" wide, 23.75" deep and 40" high. 19.5" seat height. The four side chairs are 19" wide, 23" deep and 40" high. 19.5" seat height.
