J Clausen for Brande Mobelfabrik mid-century modern brutalist bedroom set in teak, made in Denmark. This set is absolutely spectacular with top notch design, materials and construction. The set is comprised of a lowboy dresser, highboy chest on chest and pair of nightstands. All pieces feature raised, uneven fronts and angled legs that cradle the bottoms of cases and attach to the sides. With the exception of the top piece of the highboy, they also all have dark, beveled banding around the fronts. The entire set is finished nicely in the back too, allowing for use in the center of a room to really showcase the brilliance of the furniture. The lowboy has eight drawers, the top two of which have elegant, removable interior dividers. The bottom piece of the highboy has four drawers, the top of which also has dividers. The top of the highboy has cabinet doors that open to reveal two small adjustable shelves on one side, and a larger adjustable shelf over a drawer on the other side. The bedside chests feature drop down doors with an interior drawer with fascinating joinery over open storage space. Underneath the top chest part of the highboy is a burned in makers mark stamp. J. Clausen was the owner of Brande Mobelfabrik and likely also the designer of this amazing set.
There has been previous light restoration work on all pieces. It has not been completely refinished but is in very good vintage condition for age and use. All pieces still have some small cosmetic flaws including small chips, scratches, discoloration and wear to the finish. The legs are different colors, some darker, some lighter. The hinges on the nightstands have been replaced.
