Meiji period Japanese two-piece stacking kitchen tansu chest offering ample storage space. The bottom piece has two large sliding doors opening to a full length, removable shelf. The top piece has four small sliding doors along the top, two sliding doors in the middle and four small drawers with metal pulls on the bottom. This charming mizuya tansu is multi-functional and would be useful in just about any room in the house. Very good vintage condition with some expected wear for age and use. Drawers and doors function well. There are a couple of former glue repairs, some scratches and scuffs, and the expected cracks in the wood, which is very normal for tansu.
46.75" long, 18" deep, 64.75" high.
