Japanese Meiji period (1868-1912) Shodana cabinet with bone applique and intricate carvings. This black wooden cabinet is a stunning piece of art and provides a charming way to display your treasures on several shelves and in built-in cabinet spaces. It has complex floral carvings in the bone decorations and in the wood. The case simply rests on a curved and carved base, which is a little wider and deeper than the main section. There may have been connecting dowels in the past, but it is still sturdy and not too heavy or awkward to move. There are three lower drawers and one door that just removes as opposed to swings open as it is missing its original dowels. It's in very good vintage condition with some wear, and it is missing a few little pieces but still looks amazing.
59.25" wide, 15.25" deep, 80.25" high.
