A beautifully crafted Japanese Oribe-style ceramic shallow bowl or dish featuring a striking interplay of texture, color, and symbolism. The interior combines flowing ridges of deep green glaze, reminiscent of a Zen sand garden, with a tortoise shell pattern in brown relief and delicate, hand-painted white blossoming trees. The softly irregular rim and mottled green glaze give the piece an organic, wabi-sabi appeal. Handmade at Japan’s Ryugo Kiln, the dish rests on four small feet and shows fine craftsmanship typical of mid-century and later studio ceramics. The underside bears an impressed mark, partially obscured beneath the glaze. In Japanese art, cherry blossoms symbolize renewal, while the tortoise shell motif represents longevity and endurance. A sculptural and meditative piece ideal as a decorative accent, centerpiece, or serving dish in wabi-sabi, Japanese modern, or organic contemporary interiors. Excellent vintage condition with light surface wear consistent with age. No chips, cracks, or repairs noted.

7.75” wide, 6.25” deep, and 2.5” high.
