A beautifully sculptural piece of mid-century design, this staved teak bowl was created by legendary Danish designer Jens Harald Quistgaard for Dansk Designs. Made in Denmark from richly grained teak, the bowl showcases the signature staved construction—thin segments of wood seamlessly joined to create a warm, organic form. The gently flared handles rise in an elegant, wing-like curve, giving the bowl both visual drama and everyday function. It’s stamped on the base with “Staved Teak, Dansk Designs, Denmark, JHQ”, a mark that points to early, high-quality production from the 1950s–70s, when Quistgaard was closely involved with Dansk’s Danish-made pieces. These earlier works are especially prized by collectors for their craftsmanship and authenticity. Whether used as a serving bowl, fruit centerpiece, or displayed purely as an object of art, this piece captures the timeless harmony of Scandinavian form and function. Excellent vintage condition with minor wear consistent with age. Includes small dings, light surface scratches, and a few areas of slight separation between joints—visible only on close inspection. These subtle imperfections are typical of vintage teak and add to the character and rich patina of the piece.
15" wide, 11" deep, and 7.25" high at the handles, 3.25" high at the sides.
