Designer craftsman coffee table by woodworker artist Keith Crowder, 1989. This sculptural, black wood table is a thought provoking piece of art. It has carved wood handles on each end that opens claw like large paw print panels in the center opening to a hand woven basket. There are spikes in an oval on the top around the opening and more spikes and nails around the hanging basket. This is not a child friendly table. Excellent condition with a few spikes missing. Originally purchased an art gallery in Seattle. Keith Crowder's work was exhibited at the American Crafts Museum in New York in the 1980s. K. Crowder, 1989 etched in the bottom, there are also copper panels attached to the bottom, shown in the last picture with signature and date.
It measures 53" wide closed and 63" wide open. The widest part of the table is 19" deep and the narrowest part at the center is 9.5" wide, 14.25" high, without the spikes.
