Stunning Filipino hand-carved painted food bowl, carved from a single piece of wood and painted in an amazing array of red, white, and green swirls. There is conflicting information as to its origin, with claims that it is a traditional "okir" design Maranao piece from Mindanao. We have also been told it is from the Bontoc people of the Luzon Mountains in the Philippines. Either way, it is a great piece in great condition, with a distressed looked consistent with age.
Bowl exterior is 52.5" long, 16" wide, 14.5" high.
