Ornate Chinese mother of pearl and stone applique lacquered six panel screen, a magnificent room divider that is truly a piece of functional art. Each of the six panels has four large stone carvings, the subject of which is either a household décor item or an animal. The objects include vases and urns; the animals include horses, lions, camels, a rhino and a bull. There are a variety of stones used in the carvings, with a variety of colors. The fronts of the panels are also covered with small pieces of mother of pearl in intricate designs, which really pop against the black lacquer background. The backs of the panels are black lacquer with gold painted flowers all over. It can be used attached together with the rustic hinges or placed side by side.
96" long with the pieces standing side by side, when attached and free standing, the length varies according to the angles of each panel. Each panel is 16" wide, 1" deep, 72" high.
