A sculptural Sommerso Murano art glass form with an elegant, flame-like silhouette and dramatic teardrop opening. The vivid amethyst pink or purple interior is encased in a cool, light aqua blue outer layer, creating the signature layered depth for which Sommerso (submerged) glass is known. With its generous opening and integrated negative-space “handle” detail, this piece can be displayed as a statement vase or styled as a pitcher (wonderful on a bar cart). It is a standout accent, pure mid-century glamour in glass. This piece is attributed to Flavio Poli based on its form, color layering, and overall Murano aesthetic; however, it is not signed, so the attribution cannot be guaranteed. Provenance note: the gentleman from whom we purchased it shared that he was with his parents when they bought it while visiting the island of Murano.
