This four-panel screen showcases intricate geometric latticework in the classic asanoha (hemp leaf) motif, an auspicious pattern symbolizing growth and resilience. Each small wooden element is carefully assembled in the spirit of kumiko joinery, a Japanese technique that relies on precise interlocking construction without nails. While this piece does employ some glue for added stability in the upper patterned areas, it reflects the care and intention of traditional craftsmanship with no nails used in the design. The lower portion of each panel is finished with a woven wood slat design, grounding the airy upper lattice in a rhythm of solid lines. A warm, light to medium wood tone highlights the natural grain and adds organic warmth to both modern and traditional interiors. The panels are connected with sturdy metal hinges, allowing for a range of configurations.
