Solid wood carved Thai Howdah chair, also known as an elephant saddle-seat chair. It features intricate relief carvings all around, mostly in a floral motif. This chair is highly detailed and looks great from every angle. It is made of solid wood and almost has a whitewash appearance. We bought it from someone who said they bought it in Thailand and had it shipped back to the States. Solid and sturdy, it is in very good condition. There are some small flaws, what I notice are several spots where the material that the carver packs into cracks is flaking off, which is not a big deal. The biggest flaw is that one of the six finials is missing. They just sit on top and can be moved around to the other corners. There are also water rings on the seat and some other spots that seem to be discolored from water.

33" wide, 24.5" deep, 31.75" high.
